Balbino Hapke Rosen

November 8, 1973 -- July 11, 2021

We mourn the passing of Balbino Rosen. Balbino was an adventurer, healer, IT guru, and a generous, wise soul.

In the fall of 2020, Balbino was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He chose to spend his remaining time living well -- together with his beloved Ama and their daughter Kailani.

Balbino grew up in South Florida. Surfing and scuba diving fused “Kailani”, Polynesian for sky and sea, into his DNA. He forever loved nature and cherished his Cuban Colombian roots.

Balbino met Ama, a fellow adventurer in Carbondale, Illinois. Their love of one another and the outdoors led them to Colorado and its mountain sports. Balbino was a man of many interests and a voracious learner. He graduated from Miami Dade College. He later studied Chinese medicine (Chinese Medicine Institute of Miami) and attended nursing school (Florida International University). His affinity for technology was matched by his love for, and patience with, people. Balbino had a deep and genuine interest in the people he met. He could take an entry level IT job and soon be teaching others. His daughter Kailani captured his heart and from the time of her birth he chose to stay close to home -- to be with his family first and foremost.

Too soon to say good-bye, we remember Balbino's love of life, his laughter, his giving heart and commitment to the environment.

In addition to Ama and Kai, Balbino is survived by his grandmother, Luisa; parents, Robert and Luisa; his sisters, Luisa, Anna, Elena, and Rebecca (and their spouses); very dear nieces and nephews, Sebastian, Isabella, Hayden, Aubryn, Brianna, and Bryer; as well as, many close "in-laws." He was preceded in death by his grandfather, German.

The Rosens found their spiritual home in the Holy Love Deliverance Temple. Their family and friends extend gratitude to Bishop Harvey Nubine and the church community for their exceptional support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Belmar Park Amphitheater in Lakewood on August 14, 2021 at 11:00 am. The address is 801 South Yarrow St and signage will guide folks to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the GoFundMe campaign, https://gofund.me/e22201c9 to raise support for Ama, Kailani and the Balbino Rosen Kindness Initiative.  This money will be used to cover the past year’s medical expenses, and lessen the stress on Ama in the next year as she and Kailani rebuild their lives. If you would like to support Ama and Kai in ways other than financial, please contact daniellawrencewallach@gmail.com.

A life lived so happily deserves a happy remembrance. We invite friends and loved ones to join our family for a short service, officiated by Bishop Harvey Nubine, including joyful stories and memories of our dear Balbino. Let us not forget his smile, his kindness, nor his generous spirit.

Dress for a gathering of friends rather than a funeral; if you can, wear purple in his memory.

The service will be streamed live on Zoom for those who cannot attend.
